A floating pond
heater is necessary if you want to keep your Koi fish or other fish
alive during the extremely cold winter months. Though the water on top
of the surface may freeze over, a floating pond heater will keep your
fish warm and cozy at a temperature of around 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
The disadvantages of floating pond heaters is that they are generally
very expensive, starting out at $380. If you want to save your fish,
but can’t afford a regular electric heater, you might consider
a floating pond heater that uses special metal heat exchangers.
These floating pond heaters are made out of brass, stainless steel,
or nickel alloy and create their heat through natural gas, propane,
or even use electricity as heat pumps. There are various sizes available
and they have proven to be much less expensive than other heaters.
