pond skimmer
is basically like a filter. It’s an additional way to help keep
leaves and other debris off of the surface of your pond. In fact, you
can call a pond skimmer a “prefilter:” it filters the leaves
and debris off the surface of the pond before they have a chance to
sink to the bottom and clog the second filter.
A pond skimmer sits underwater. A good skimmer is generally easy to
install and should have a screen to protect your fish from getting sucked
into the skimmer. Look for one with “dry hands” servicing
– such a pond skimmer does not require you to even get your hands
wet when cleaning out the filter.
